The flag commonly used to represent the Caribbean Netherlands (BES Islands), consisting of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba—three small Caribbean islands that are special municipalities of the Netherlands. While each island has its own distinct local flag, the Dutch national flag (red, white, and blue horizontal stripes) is officially used as the regional flag. These islands became special municipalities of the Netherlands proper on October 10, 2010, after the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, meaning their inhabitants are full Dutch citizens, and the islands use the US dollar as currency.

Bonaire is world-renowned as one of the top scuba diving destinations on Earth. Sint Eustatius (Statia) was once the busiest trading port in the Caribbean during the 18th century. Saba features the world's shortest commercial runway and the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands at Mount Scenery.
