The flag of Bulgaria, an Eastern European country located on the Balkan Peninsula along the Black Sea. The flag consists of three horizontal stripes of equal size: white on top, green in the middle, and red on the bottom. White symbolizes peace and freedom, green represents the country's lush forests and agricultural wealth, and red signifies the courage and blood shed for independence. The flag was officially adopted after Bulgaria gained independence from the Ottoman Empire in 1878.

The Republic of Bulgaria has a remarkable history spanning over 1,300 years, with the First Bulgarian Empire founded in 681 AD, making it one of the oldest countries in Europe. Bulgaria is internationally famous for its yogurt, considered to have unique probiotic properties due to the Lactobacillus bulgaricus bacteria native to the region.
