The flag of Belize, a small Central American country on the Caribbean coast. The flag features a blue field with red horizontal stripes and an elaborate national coat of arms in the center showing two woodcutters (Mestizo and Creole) holding tools beside a shield with mahogany trees, a sailing ship, and the motto 'Sub Umbra Floreo' (I Flourish in the Shade). Surrounded by 50 mahogany leaves representing 1950, when the independence movement began, it's considered one of the most detailed national flags in the world.

Belize is the only Central American country where English is the official language, a legacy of its British colonial past as British Honduras until independence in 1981. The country is famous for the Great Blue Hole, the second-largest barrier reef in the world, and ancient Mayan ruins like Caracol and Xunantunich.
