Yin Yang ☯ Emoji: Meaning & Usage
A yin yang symbol — the Taoist symbol representing the dynamic balance between opposing forces that together form a complete whole. The black and white teardrops (each containing a small circle of the opposite color) represent how seemingly contrary forces are actually complementary and interconnected in the natural world. Yin and yang aren't static opposites but dynamic complements — each contains the seed of the other, and neither exists without the other.
Light/dark, active/passive, masculine/feminine as philosophical principles rather than gender. Used for Taoist philosophy, Chinese cultural content, balance and complementarity discussions, martial arts philosophy, and the broad metaphorical use of yin-yang to describe any situation where apparent opposites form a necessary whole.
