A placard — representing protest signs, public announcements, and any message carried or displayed to communicate with those around you. Placards are the physical voice of demonstrations and public advocacy — written messages held aloft to make statements visible to crowds and media.

The placard at a march is one of democracy's most direct forms of communication: a citizen literally carrying their message into public space. Used for social movement and protest content, public advocacy, event and demonstration announcements, the general act of communicating important messages publicly, any context where a statement is being made clearly and visibly in public space, and the fundamental democratic act of showing up with your message in a place where others can see it.
