An hourglass with sand fallen through — representing time elapsed, deadlines met or missed, and the relentless flow of time that cannot be reversed once it has passed. The hourglass is one of humanity's oldest timekeeping instruments, and its visual metaphor — sand flowing inevitably downward — remains powerfully evocative of mortality and the preciousness of time. The 'done' hourglass (all sand fallen) signals completion, finality, and time run out.

Computer loading screens borrowed the hourglass to indicate processing time. Used for deadline discussions, time management content, expressions of time passing, reflections on mortality and the preciousness of present moments, project completion markers, and the philosophical weight of recognizing that time, once spent, cannot be recovered.
