The flag of Bermuda, a British Overseas Territory consisting of about 180 islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, located around 1,000 kilometers east of North Carolina. The flag is a British Red Ensign defaced with the Bermudian coat of arms on the fly side, distinctive among British territory flags for being red instead of blue. The coat of arms features a red lion holding a shield depicting the wreck of the Sea Venture, an English ship that ran aground on Bermuda in 1609—an event said to have inspired Shakespeare's play 'The Tempest.' Despite its small size, Bermuda is one of the wealthiest places per capita in the world due to its status as a major offshore financial center.

The territory is famous worldwide for the mysterious 'Bermuda Triangle,' the legendary stretch of ocean where ships and aircraft have allegedly disappeared.
